As
a child, Ginger Shinn would travel from Miami to
Maggie Valley each year for vacation. She
cherished the hiking, cookouts, bonfires, square
dancing and scenic drives through the Great
Smoky Mountains. Years later, Ginger, her
husband Bud and their children would continue
the yearly visits to Maggie Valley and Smokey
Shadows until one day they decided to make the
lodge their permanent home. Now, the Shinn
family dedicate their lives to creating those
same cherished memories for all who visit Smokey
Shadows Lodge.
Visitors to the lodge and the two accompanying
cabins travel back to a simpler place in time.
The lodge, with it's log beam ceilings and stone
walls offers 11 private rooms each decorated
with cozy, rustic charm.
No two rooms are
alike. Several have feather beds, and all have
quilt bedspreads. There are also two adjacent
cabins, one more than a hundred years old, which
can accommodate up to 6 guests. The baby Cabin
can accommodate two.
Whether you're enjoying the massive stone
fireplace in the great room or strolling along
the rocking chair filled porch, you are
guaranteed to experience relaxation and peace
like you've never known before. By the
way, naps in the hammock are not only allowed,
they're encouraged.
The
Shinns are famous for their "country gourmet"
meals served family style in the dining room.
Over the years Ginger has collected time honored
recipes for classic country dishes with flavors
to please every palate. Be warned! The fresh
tomato pie is addictive may lead to second
helpings! Smokey Shadows is indeed magical and
offers something for everyone. Give the Shinns a
call today and book your getaway to Smokey
Shadows.
